Ugandan Climate Activist Faith Patricia Ariokot is now the record holder for the longest tree hug as she anticipates breaking the Guinness World Record.
On the 8th of December 2023, she made her debut in the challenge for the longest tree hug by an individual which did not go according to plan.
Despite the setback, she gave it another tremendous hug on 29th December 2023.
Although I broke the record, our camera glitched and missed minutes of the attempt.
Ariokot in her post on X formerly known as Twitter.
Ariokot who is also a founder of Faith in Trees was determined to break the already existing record set by Adrienne Long 3 years ago although not recognized by the Guinness World Record which stands at 10 hours and 5 minutes.

I am doing this because Trees Matter and I need your support to make this happen.

However, in her latest update, Ariokot managed to hug the tree for 15 hours, 18 minutes, and 10 seconds after being disturbed by a thunder strike.
This is how abruptly our attempt came to an end. We thank God for sparing my life.

All eyes are now set with high hopes waiting for the official decision to be made by the Guinness World Record to acknowledge the great milestone.
